The Name & The Place

Mandara — The Sacred Mountain

In Sanskrit, Mandara refers to a sacred mountain used in ancient legend as a churning rod to extract the nectar of immortality from the cosmic ocean. It is a word that carries with it the ideas of depth, transformation, and the hidden gifts of the earth itself.

There is no more fitting name for a resort built on the slopes of Mt. Makiling — one of the Philippines' most sacred and storied peaks — in Los Baños, a town whose very name (the baths) speaks to the geothermal spring waters that bubble up from deep within the mountain.

The owners of Mandara Villa were moved by a transformative journey to Bali — by its architecture of intricate carved wood, its philosophy of sanctuary, and its belief that the place where you rest should restore something in you. They returned to the Philippines with a clear vision: to bring that spirit home.

And so they built Mandara Villa: not just a vacation house, but a designed retreat — where the sacred mountain's geothermal waters feed a private pool, where Balinese carved doorframes frame views of tropical gardens, where every material, every object, every lamp is chosen to make you feel the particular peace that comes from being completely, privately, beautifully away.

2023 — Vision

The Bali Inspiration

Inspired by a transformative visit to Bali, the owners set out to build a private sanctuary that would bring the serenity of Balinese architecture and philosophy to the hot spring hills of Los Baños.

2023 — Construction

Built Around the Springs

The villa was designed around Los Baños' famous geothermal hot springs, incorporating natural spring water into a private pool at the heart of the property.

2023 — Opening

The Doors Open

Mandara Villa opened its doors as a fully private, exclusively-yours Bali-inspired resort in the Springdale Garden community of Lalakay, Los Baños, Laguna.

2024 — Growing

Word Spreads

Word spread through social media, with guests sharing the villa's distinctive night pool, Balinese carved doorframes, and Adirondack lounge chairs. The brand grew to 388+ Instagram followers.

2024–Present — Today
